On 6 and 7 May, Kai Guldemond and Julia van Leeuwen of Guldemond Advocaten, in collaboration with Recht in je Oor, organised a Claude Code Hackathon for 60 lawyers and legal professionals. Over two evenings, with pizzas, Mac minis and enthusiastic participants with a legal background, we immersed ourselves in the world of ‘vibe coding’.
Following a brief introduction by Elgar Weijtmans, five teams got straight down to work over two evenings. The big digital clock was ticking, but within about two hours, some impressive prototypes had emerged, such as:
– Legally Fit: “Be still. Then move.” A work-life balance app for legal professionals
– Partio: a mediation case management platform for start-ups and scale-ups
– VSO Checker: a tool that makes settlement agreements easier for employees to understand
The evening wasn’t about perfect software or tools that could go live tomorrow. It was much more about experimenting, collaborating and discovering just how small the step between an idea and a working tool has now become.
